The 2009 Show - Music for a Silent Cinema
The 2009 Field Show Theme will be Music for a Silent Cinema.
The music and visual program will include works that suggest the melodrama that was often associated with silent film - especially from the 1920's. Santa Monica occupied a historic role in the development of early film and music, which makes this theme especially appropriate. Using a show concept proposed by Carl Hammer, the music will include Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet, and Shostakovich's Piano Concerto No. 2 in F Major.
Music Arranger - Travis Larson. Jeremy Miller will be preparing the Percussion Book. The Visual Book will be written by Sean McDermott.
The parade march will be Corcoran Cadets - John Philip Sousa.
Of course, the band will continue to perform its regular line up of school songs and stand tunes.
